This Forum is for experienced Fo Guang Shan translators to standardize their outputs across various ongoing projects e.g. Fo Guang Dictionary of Buddhism, Humanistic Buddhism Journal Translation, Complete Works of Venerable Master Hsing Yun, book publications and ad hoc temple-specific translations. Several departments in Taiwan have been involved in Chinese-English translation activities in Fo Guang Shan: Buddha’s Light Publications, Fo Guang Shan Institute of Humanistic Buddhism - Center for International Affairs (FGSIHB-CIA), Nan Tien Institute - Humanistic Buddhism Centre (NTI-HBC), Buddha Museum International Affairs, FGS International Translation Center (FGSITC), and various temples.

This Forum will be divided into two parts:

1. Prospects of Translation: Standardization, style guide, tools, workflow, organization, and workshops for special projects.
2. Theory and practice: Modern day translation procedures adapted from ancient Buddhist translation court procedures, use of computer technology, and also the means to properly understand canonical texts and express them in the English Buddhist language.

The goal of this Forum is for greater alignment in the translation of academic and popular materials in Humanistic Buddhism.
