寡欲精神爽,思多血氣衰。
小飲莫亂性,忍氣免傷財。
貴從勤中得,富自儉裏來。
溫和終益己,強暴必招災。
養性多成仁,素食應愛物。
做人願積德,是非口莫開。
修道真君子,行義有忠忱。
安份增自在,守己樂神仙。
衙門休出入,人我要和諧。
世人守此訣,災去福會來。
Reinventing the Heart
Zhu Maichen (? - 115 BCE, Han Dynasty)
Lessened desires mean a clear mind,
Overthinking drains your energy.
Lesser drinks mean controlled composure,
Restraining one’s temper prevents loss of wealth.
Nobility is attained through diligent endeavors,
Wealth comes from frugality.
Gentleness and softness ultimately benefits oneself,
Force and violence will cause inevitable misfortune.
Friendliness makes one truly superior,
He who sows disaccord is a root of trouble.
